We have been producing Fanzines, or ‘Zines’ for over a decade now. They are a publication that we put together for a few reasons: we love music, we like supporting new talent, we like meeting our idols, Zines show how much creativity is at the root of what we do.

For Zine #14 we had a great interview lined up with Peter Hook in his Manchester house, but what we got in the end was better than we could have expected. He’s got more musical experience that a lot of others as his has been a roller coaster of musics ups and downs from the beginning. In truth, we could have stayed there all day and asked geeky questions, but we thought it would be pushing his generosity too much.

FLY53 Zine #14: Lunar C Exclusive Video Interview

Our history of making the best creative content continues with our Zine Number 14 that’s about to hit the stores, with both physical and digital copies.

The first teaser we have is a quick Twitter Q&A we had with Lunar C, the Mc who has quickly risen to the top of the UK scene in no small part thanks to his quick wit and humorous cut downs from the Battle MC program Don’t Flop. Lunar is much more than a Battle MC, his new EP ‘Good times and dead brain cells’ is out any day now showcasing how he can use beats better than most.

The video below features a host of questions asked by his nigh on 60K Twitter followers. Tough questions and some of them are just plain weird.

Tongue firmly in cheek, it’s pretty clear we’re giving a certain fat southern gentleman a bit of a hammering here. The colonel would have been proud of our take on something that was fried deep in the south and exported to the world.

We’ve taken an iconic image and injected it with a little irreverence and a patented skull just to show the two faces of consumerism.
The result – The FLY53 KF53 Tee.

Single jersey and a ribbed cotton neck and that sick printed graphic. We can’t think of a better reason to buy it other than its probably going to get us sued sooner rather than later, that and obviously it’s ‘Finger F53king Good.’

FLY53 FRIENDS – RAWCUSS

In their short career, Rawcuss one of the freshest, most original bands on the current Manchester music scene have already rocked many of the city’s top venues – The Academy, The Roadhouse, Band on the Wall, Ruby Lounge and Night and Day but to name a few spreading news of their unique sound dubbed “a tantalizing mix of The Kinks and The Buzzcocks.” Count us in.

In October last year the guys were invited to Abbey Road studios in London to meet with Rob Cass who has worked with more artists and producers than we’ve had hot dinners from the likes of Estelle to John Leckie of Radiohead.

On our doorstep we took the opportunity to hook up with Gareth, Dan and Seamus to find out what all the fuss was about. We weren’t disappointed.

FLY53 MANCHESTER SHOOT

We’ve spent the last week running around the streets and bars of Manchester Fly53 style (like lunatics) shooting for our upcoming AW13 campaign. In between the models, tears and beers we kept a visual diary of of our three day mission to give you a peek behind the scenes of how we put our infamous imagery together.

Fly53 Shoot team, just arrived in Manchester.

Day 1: After a spot of breakfast (Full English) Sid’s chuffed to be up bright and early. Not. It’s fucking freezing but we’re ready to rock come rain or shine.

With a footwear range set to launch with our new season as well as a whole new collection we’ve turned the streets of Manchester into a walk-in wardrobe.

Day 2: We’re on Oxford road soaking up the graff scene in the area and using it as a backdrop to the upcoming collection.

Maybe not this wall tho?

Day 3: Jamie, Sid and photographer Mark, downstairs in the Deaf Institute Manchester.

FLY53 STYLE – LAND OF SUNSHINE

The Land of Sunshine tee is a graphic so fine we used in on a crew (Tally Ho) as well as this impressively designed tee. ‘Greetings from Flytopia – The land of sunshine’ the place in our head where the sun is always shining and the streets are laden with 50ft redhead pin ups. Amen.
