Welsh alternative rock band The Joy Formidable aka Ritzy Bryan, Rhydian Dafydd and Matt Thomas have long graced our office playlists here at Fly53 HQ and we thought it was about time we showed them some love.
Renound for their heavy bass and thick rhythmic guitar sound these guys have been gaining more and more of a following since releasing their debut album ‘The Big Roar,’ on Canvasback Records last year.
And a growing fan base is not all they’ve got to write home about. Since the albums release the band have opened Lollapaloza and a secret show for the Foo Fighters after Dave Grohl outed himself as a big fan, written a track entitled ‘Endtapes,’ which was included in the massive ‘Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’ playlist and set about writing the material for the forthcoming year.
With their new album, ‘Wolf’s Law,’ due in January 2013 under their Atlantic records label and a 16 date tour of the UK and Ireland (of which some dates include supporting Muse) on the cards we’re pretty excited to get well and truly stuck into these guys again asap. Roll on a year of proper rocking.
