The first teaser we have is a quick Twitter Q&A we had with Lunar C, the Mc who has quickly risen to the top of the UK scene in no small part thanks to his quick wit and humorous cut downs from the Battle MC program Don’t Flop. Lunar is much more than a Battle MC, his new EP ‘Good times and dead brain cells’ is out any day now showcasing how he can use beats better than most.

The video below features a host of questions asked by his nigh on 60K Twitter followers. Tough questions and some of them are just plain weird.

Here he is rocking our ‘Paradise Lost’ tee. The only tee that not only gives you a taste of paradise and has a little something to say about blowing the shit out of the wonders of the world.

Fly53 Shoot team, just arrived in Manchester.

Day 1: After a spot of breakfast (Full English) Sid’s chuffed to be up bright and early. Not. It’s fucking freezing but we’re ready to rock come rain or shine.

With a footwear range set to launch with our new season as well as a whole new collection we’ve turned the streets of Manchester into a walk-in wardrobe.

Day 2: We’re on Oxford road soaking up the graff scene in the area and using it as a backdrop to the upcoming collection.

Long overdue a well deserved spot in our Fly53 legends list, the charasmatic, energetic frontman of psychadelic rock royalty Blind Melon – Shannon Hoon.

Influenced by a string of other artists who have featured in our Fly53 legends list; The Grateful Dead, The Beatles, John Lennon, Bob Dylan, and Led Zeppelin it probably isn’t much of a surprise we’re big fans of the band.

The group came together partying in LA one night, where Brad Smith and Rogers Stevens watched Hoon perform his song ‘Change,’ acoustically and invited him to play with them. Later Christopher Thorn and Glen Graham were added to the mix and the five guys signed to Capital Records under the name Blind Melon.

In 1995 (despite having a shrink join them on tour to support Hoon) Shannon was found dead in the tour bus the morning after a twelve hour coke binge. The band were heart broken but went on making music, naming their album ‘Nico’ after the baby daughter Hoon left behind.

His grave was inscribed with the words from his song ‘Change,’ “I know we can’t all stay here forever – So I want to write my words on the face of today and they’ll paint it.”

We can’t quite believe it, but this year marks the fifth year of the mighty Boomtown festival hitting us up with the finest in reggae, dub, funk, punk, swing, ska and bass music in the land.

Sold out year on year this is possibly the fastest growing festival to date multiplying like rabbits from just 1,000 dedicated ravers in 2009 to 28,000 of us rocking up with a pocket full of beans and a bag full of tins in 2012.

This year this ever boundary busting music phenomenon will unveil even more craziness for the ladies and gents of Boomtown town. Including a 300 ft moving magic carpet ride offering visitors an amazing view of the entire camp and saving tired feet for late night partying, a 15 meter high Lion’s Den Mayan temple and The Spider of Arcadia who will be stomping his way through the seedy streets to stake his claim and dub the centre of Downtown the hottest party destination in town.

Excited is an understatement, weird and wonderful and jam packed with some of our favourite DJs and artists ever including Stantion Warriors, DJ Hype, David Rodigan, Dirtyphonics, and more. Roll the fuck on August we say.

Leeds boys Craig, Stuart, Matthew and Scott aka The Sunshine Underground or TSU if you’re seriously cool, released their debut album ‘Raise the Alarm’ back in 2006. With it they toured the European festival season and the response to their unique mixture of punk, funk and indie vibes was phenomenal.

Throughout the coming years both their following and the shows they sold out got bigger and bigger in size and including an impressive list of festivals to rival some of the biggest bands around; Glastonbury, T in the Park, Leeds and Reading but to name a few.

A few years later and another successful album under their belts – ‘Nobody’s Coming to Save You’ in 2010 and the guys continue to gain popularity by being fucking cool wherever they go. We met up with them to take an exclusive dig into what goes on in the world of Sunshine underground and find out what they’ve got hidden up their little sleeves for us in the coming months. Probably the best piece of news we’ve heard since, well our invite to afore mentioned party….Daft fucking Punk are back.

‘Get Lucky’, the first track lifted from their eagerly-anticipated new album, has tonnes of sex appeal. For a start Pharell, King of cool is the singer of choice, ”She’s up all night ’til the sun/ I’m up all night to get some/ She’s up all night for good fun/ I’m up all night to get lucky,” he croons over a tune that you can’t help but tap your toes to, it’s catchy as hell.

Nile Rodgers’ slick guitar riffs and funk-drenched bass as well as the sweet sound of the piano in the back, lend the whole thing an authentic disco feel and the beat has that classic Daft Punk strut, and their vocoders have never sounded better.

As we all know (all too well) here at Fly53 HQ what goes up must come down, and this week’s hate has been a musical low of epic proportion. It probably comes as no surprise that we’re not big Beliber’s here, but his latest venture with Will I Am is really, really bad.

As for Will it’s just another in a string of bad collaborations, Britney being the last, that have left us thinking Will’s more of a guest on his own album than the guest’s themselves. It’s safe to say we won’t be rushing out to buy it any time soon. Just saying.

Scottish born, Ozzie hard rocker Bon Scott was not only one of the coolest rockers of our time but was also front man of one of the coolest bands to walk the planet AC/DC.

Their 1979 album ‘Highway to Hell’ took them to the verge of commercial explosion when sadly in February 1980 Scott died after a night out in London

The group briefly considered disbanding, but instead recruited vocalist Brian Johnson and thank fuck they did – their subsequent album, ‘Back in Black,’ was released five months later, as a tribute to Scott’s memory. It went on to become the second best-selling album in history…
