Time for an update on FLY53′s good friend Riya!
2010 has been a whirlwind year for all of the FLY53 artists, and that’s not set to change with Riya! Her year has gone from strength to strength, and doesn’t seem like stopping any time soon.
She has featured on tracks from Drum n Bass moguls Lenzman and Total Science which were both playlisted on 1Xtra radio. This is as well as her own single ‘Seems Like’ being released on Autonomic in October! (video available below) ’Seems Like’ was one of the best tunes of the year in our opinion, and Fabric seemed to agree after featuring the track on their CD earlier this year. This opinion was also agreed by IDJ and DJ Mag too!
This has lead to a live world tour with Lenzman which has drawn much acclaim from critics and fans alike.
As if this wasn’t enough, Riya has also begun a series of podcasts, the first of which was available on Christmas Eve. When we asked her about the series she told us she “presents an eclectic mix of urban beats and exclusive promos.” Definitely keep an eye out for that one!
She is also appearing on BBC 1Xtra’s Rampage Club Sessions, singing live on 5th January, make sure you tune in as we’re sure it won’t be one to miss!
So it seems like Riya is set for a hectic 2011, and here at FLY53 we can’t wait to see what she does next.
Riya Wears FLY53 on Radio 1 Xtra Last Night
We love it at FLY53, when we see pictures of our friends like this. Apart from a few unofficial shots, this was from a Radio show, and it shows us that the artists we work with really feel our threads!
Riya is still an artist you may not have heard of if your not into D’N'B, but here at FLY53 we know it’s only a matter of time. Described on 1Xtra as ‘one of the greatest singers in D’N'B right now’ her career is really taking off.
Riya is currently writing her debut album, but is often found working on many big collaborations, with songs such as Testimony and Open Page gaining a huge amount of attention on the D’N'B scene. She also featured on Fabric live: 50 by D-Bridge, on the first track entitled ‘Seems Like’ which is easily the standout on the album.
A voice that totally commands attention, a passion for music (and easy on the old peepers!) means Riya is an artist we are excited about!

The songstress is currently huge on the D’N'B scene, but don’t put her in that box, with influences from Hip-Hop to Motown Soul, this is one talented girl!
