Monday morning and still a little blury eyed after the weekend, we’re looking for a wake up call and what better way to do it than with American rock band Band of Horses. Formed in 2004 the band currently consists of Ben Briswell, Ryan Monroe, Tyler Ramsey, Bill Reynolds and Creighton Barrett but they’ve had more past members than we’ve had hot dinners and we’d love to know why. That aside four studio albums one of which was Grammy nominated in 2012 and a pretty impressive following right now and we’d like to think these guys are finally settling down on all the shuffeling around and getting back to what they do best. Making great music.

With a blend of mid-tempo rock and reverb-laden vocals these indie rock darlings are up there on our monday morning wake up list and if you didn’t get the chance to to catch them this summer at the itunes festival never fear we’ve got your back. Turn it up loud and prove to your boss that hangovers not going to hold you back today. No sir.

The one and only Debbie Harry, puck rock legend, icon to a generation and all round goddess of cool has got to be up there on our list of Fly53 legends – tell us she rocked your world too right?

Her rise to fame came from singing the lead vocal in iconic new wave punk rock band Blondie who were inspired by all the things we love at Fly53, B movies, acid riddled psychedelia, punked luxury, porn, rock, pop art, post punk idealism, anti establishment the list goes on. Their unique sound played on a deliberate mash of punk, rock, reggae and funk music making them truly one of a kind and leaders in their genre.

Theres no denying her refusal to conform right down to taking the stereotype of the dumb blonde bombshell and turning it on its head into something sexy, intelligent, fierce, touch and oh so talented.

She’ll always have a place in our music collection. An absolute essential. Here’s why:

We couldn’t even believe our eyes when we saw this video. Heavy metal, Rock and Lego, what a combo, it definitely makes for an interesting watch. Anyway this perked up our week, so we hope it does for you too. Lego..Lets go!
