FASHION MONTH IS OVER!

Fashion month is coming to an end and boy oh boy has it been a goodun! Our favourite moment was just this week when Kate Moss took to the Louis Vuitton catwalk puffing on a cigarette looking all bad ass – on No Smoking Day no less! Another great moment was when Queen of the unexpected Lady Gaga made her catwalk debut at Thierry Mugler and took to the catwalk but of course it was the shocking news about John Galliano getting arrested that got everybody talking. You gotta admit,as frivolous as it is, fashion is NEVER boring!Besides the celebrities and the designer drama above all that we’ve seen an abundance of style, not just from the models off-duty, or the celebs on the front row, but you. Yes YOU! We take inspiration the best way we know how, from the people who know style, the people who live and breathe it, who are obsessed with it and those girls are you stylish lot on the street.

It’s fair to say that the UK has style! We’re not fashion sheep to catwalk trends and we know how to look like we don’t give a damn when it comes to fashion (even if we do a little bit). We like to look a little dishevelled and we can do rock chick way better than Taylor Momsen – bad example, she looks a little bit scary lately but you know what we mean!

The style mavens hitting the cobbles of Somerset House were impressive to say the least, they wouldn’t look out of place in our SS11 preview paper that’s for sure. If you haven’t already looked, what are you waiting for? Click here to take a sneaky peak.

As you can see the FLY53 girl is cool personified, she’s comfortable in her own skin. She loves her t-shirts layered up with stylish summer cardigans, she’s not afraid to show a little bit of skin and she knows how to have a mighty good time, not just with her fashion but in life. FLY53 Daria jersey and perch a feather hat on her head and still look hot. She doesn’t conform, she won’t conform! She can’t be torn away from her leather jacket and she certainly won’t be told what to wear or how to wear it.

While the majority of us may not be able to afford all the great clothes on the catwalks this past month they can still inspire us to look our very best. As can the girls on the street who inspire FLY53 on a daily basis, just take a look at the ladies we found hanging around at fashion week (see top), they’re very FLY53 doncha think?

The Big Freeze

OMG! Could it be any colder? Seriously, Christmas is less than a month away and we’re very excited but c’mon this weather is just too much to cope with! The Big Freeze is playing havoc with our hair (the wind swept look wasn’t our intention) our make-up (completely blown off before we’ve even sat down at our desk) and we don’t know about you but we’ve started to dress for warmth over style (god forbid!) something has to be done! And staying at home in our pj’s isn’t an option – sadly.

According to the morning weather girl, the big freeze is going to continue for another two weeks! Two more weeks? We need a FLY53 guide to dressing in these arctic conditions, and fast.

FLY53′s guide to dressing during the Big Freeze

First of all it’s all about the basics, wear leggings or super thick tights, two pairs if need be! A pair of clumpy boots (must be flat, don’t wear heels you’ll look ridiculous) if you haven’t got grips on your soles DIY them yourself by scoring them with the tip of a sharp knife (it works believe us). Don’t forget your thick wool socks. Next up we strongly believe the NEW FLY53 Squadron Dress, is the perfect dress for the chilly temperatures. Not only does it have long sleeves, there’s a hood as well.

Next up inject a little bit of colour to your black ensemble with the FLY53 Noma d Jacket, the blue check and diagonal zip will ensure you’re wearing something different from everyone else. We don’t care how cold it is, wear it open so as not to hide the dress – that’s an order! Finish off with a duffel coat, FLY53 Flossieda Hat and a chunky FLY53 Candy Cable knit scarf, oh and don’t forget your gloves – FLY53′s beachy fingerless gloves should do the trick!

Winter dressing requires a tinge of practicality but thanks to FLY53, you can look both warm and stylish in the chill. Layer up the accessories, experiment with textures and add a touch of FLY53 to your winter wardrobe.

Don’t get us wrong, we love going out, honestly we do, but with the clocks going back this weekend and the temperature dropping below zero we’re finding the comfort of our sofa VERY appealing. So with this in mind you can imagine the excitement at FLY53 HQ when we heard all about VOGUE.COM’s Fashion Night In!
