Not everyone has the same plans for valentines weekend. You may have been shot down in flames asking out the girl of your dreams, repel the opposite sex like garlic to a vampire or spent all of your money on FLY53 clothing…..either way, here are our picks of some good events happening if you fancy something other than a love-fest weekend, and some ideas for what to wear at these events!
Friday 12th
Four Tet & Joy Orbison, The Dome, Tufnell Park
Promoting his new album (which we may add is amazing) Four Tet plays Tufnell Parks ‘Dome’ alongside hyped newbie Joy Orbison (this young pup does deserve the hype though!). Get down early and see if there are tickets on the door….if it hasn’t already this will sell out quick!

Propaganda,Birmingham o2 Arena
The phenomenon that is Indie music has its own night, Propaganda, hosted at various 02 arena’s around the country. Friday night is Birmingham’s o2, and this week Bloc Party will be spinning the decks for a set along with the usual Indie music selection. If you love Indie…you will be in your element.

Sat 13th
Button Down Disco, Koko, Camden
The legendary Button Down Disco is once again at Koko (where it has a monthly residency)..itself an amazing venue without all the Audio Visual jazz that comes with a B.D Disco. Expect a true mash up of musical styles, literally anything can be played! Best of all its free before 10pm, just request an invite from the B.D.D website!
Gallows,The Peel, Kingston
UK hardcore band Gallows are gladly back in the game after illness in the band forced them to cancel the remaining gigs of 2009 (including our birthday party!). We are happy to see them back to doing what they do best…tearing up UK stages

Sunday 14th (Valentines)
NME Awards Tour, Bristol o2 Academy
The ‘Shockwaves’ NME tour rolls into Bristol and features some of the best established (and soon-t0-be) Indie bands around. The bands playing are The Macabees, Bombay Bicycle Club, Big Pink and Drums. The 14 night tour stops in Bristol for its fourth night…so catch them soon or they might burn out by tours end…some of them are only kids for gawds sake!
