These are the days we wish we still had our women’s clothing so we could send some M.I.A’s way. Seen her new video? It’s a Romain Gavras creation again and she’s got her swagger back in spades. Rap cliche turned on their heads with her trademark chamelion-like borrowing of a cultural hook (arabic this time round as opposed to Brazilian before) that works so well. The bit where she is filing her nails is a wee bit obvious that the car is actually supported from the other side, but we love that it looks dangerously mental.

Yup our man of the year Ed is getting a cat tipsy and taking it out on the pull. Gives another meaning to chasing the cat… anyway it’s a different video and one that’s got the internet (and our facebook) divided. What do you think? Nice in a Hot Hoist hood.

NME Radar Night featuring Wolf Gang

We were invited along to the NME Emerge tour at Koko with Wolf Gang in the headline slot (Click here – Grrrrrr) and S.C.U.M. – Niki and theDove – DZ Deathrays providing the warm ups.

Gotta say it wasn’t just the Red Stripe that was making us move. The venue was magnificent as always and the people there were all up for it considering it was a Tuesday. Sadly we were elsewhere before but got to the audience just before Wolf gGang took to the stage missing the other acts. Happy at finally being a headliner W.G. ripped into their set and crashed their way through the new album – Suego Faults. Have a look at their video below.

Forgotten how long it’s been since going out to see a band we didn’t know anything about before seeing them n stage. It’s a nice thing, like seeing a film before seeing the trailer. Sometimes you can be surprised and happy.

Legend Gary Numan hits the mall featuring in Battles new video ‘My Machines’. He’s still got it. The young trio have spent a long year producing their second album ‘Gloss Drop’ and this song really sets the tone, Gary Numan smashes the vocals.

After finishing the first leg of his Dead Son Rising Tour and releasing his new album, Gary has not stood still, and there’s only a short time before the second phase of his tour starts again on the 7^th Dec. Its going to be ridiculous.The electronic music pioneer is still packing venues and is undoubtedly still an artist to be reckoned with.

The video for ‘My Machines’ is so humorous, the guy on the escalator….priceless. I think that teaches a lesson to us all. Make sure you give it a watch.

Prepare yourselves for The Targets brand spanking new single, it’s the dogs bollocks! These guys are going places… their certainly getting bigger and better fast. Its great to see them wearing Fly53 and exploding onto the international scene, they’ve earned it.

Great to see our mate Asaviour aka Savvy wearing a Fly53 shirt in his new Phoner to Arizona remix, an unofficial Gorillas edit. He’s been pushing himself to become a major player in the Hip Hop scene. With his tour fast approaching, 3 albums under his belt and his own label, he’s a busy guy and really kicking up a storm.

To say this is nauseating is an understatement….its f*in mental, I’m pretty much lost for words. It goes way overboard, but clearly their living life to the full, need I say.. ‘in an ridiculously insane fashion’. That said, the idea of a ‘bucket list’ seems interesting, maybe not as extreme as this one.
I warn you, their pushing the boundaries to the extreme, but this is definitely worth a watch.

Is Tropical at the You Tube Art Night

Fly53’s good friends ‘Is Tropical’ are currently ripping it up on a worldwide tour, hitting North and South America, Europe and the Far East. Its cool to see them finally getting the recognition they deserve, developing a massive reputation for their impressive live shows, we knew it would eventually kick off.

Even during their biggest ever tour ‘Is Tropical’ have taken the time out for us to answer a few questions.

You are off on tour soon, what/where are you looking forward to the most?

Got to be New York City, we’ve never played there but have a lot of friends living there so should be a party. Being on the road can be quite relaxing… but then there’s the constant cycle of hung over, play show, get drunk and the back to hung over.

We always ask for tour bus shenanigans. There must be a good story?

Just downloaded worms on the computer, an old game from childhood. It has now taken over all tour bus shenanigans.

Do you still squat or has making it in the industry turned you into a group of big softies?

Big softies. We went away on our second tour and got back to our shit thrown out on the streets and no house. It just got too hard to keep a house secure.

You have a chance to jump on stage at a concert with one band and jam like it’s 2099 would you choose a) Robbie Williams b) Beyonce c) N Dubz d) Cliff Richard

Beyonce! but only to get close to Jay-z’s arse.

Which song off the new album do you like playing the most and why?

What??? It was a song that had no direction planed and became something we would have never guessed.

Ever wish anyone would ask you a question, but no one has asked it? Give us the answer but not the question.

Sometimes we have that question “What’s your favorite question?” But we always forget the good ones, like how you forget jokes. ‘Whats your love making musical play list?’ was a good one.

Have you got any shit for inciting violence/riots because you cover your faces in pictures? Must be gutted they all followed your lead and gave it a bad name…

What pricks. It was all a kind of graffiti thing taken from photos in train yards. And we have a few big fans that have been spraying ‘IS TROPICAL’ on the streets of there local cities.

Last question, promise. Thanks to anyone that’s helped you out on the way?

We give our manager, Paul Resende, a lot of shit but he works real hard. All the bands that have taken us away with them. Our booking agent, Giovanna, Mat Willis, Macbeth, Catch… probably forgot a few here, but the rest are on our album.
