FLY53 WOMENSWEAR LAUNCHES
8 Oct 2006 15:56
A new addition to the FLY53 family the Fly Girls collection born as an exclusive collection at the request of the UK’s leading streetwear retailers.
Following the huge success of the initial collections the project is now widening into a full womens specific collection.
Developing an edgy feminine side full of street savvy attitude the collection retains all of the cool kudos and individualism the FLY53 brand has built up over the last 10 years.
Created with the consumer firmly in mind the latest Autumn collection effortlessly blends the wearable and the individual into an original refreshing but commercial offering.
Experimentation is evident in the garment styling of the collection. The use of draw cords, gathering and draping give a soft edge to a street look. The use of fabrics add to this look using lightweight modal, dull viscose, vintage velour, carbon washed fleece/jersey and heavily washed antique velvet. The harder edge of fabrics such as wool/viscose, canvas, denim and cotton ripstop counter balance these softer textures and shapes.
Colour plays a major part in achieving the balance between individual and commercial. A palette of pinks, purples, silver grey, black and khaki is enhanced by the use of intense yellows and pinks as highlight prints and trims.
Inspired graphics add the unique street edge. Bold organic vector graphic images are key. Inspired by some of the most cutting edge graphic trends these simplified colour blocked forms take the urban jungle theme to a new level twisting it with an organic floral theme whilst maintaining the feel of contemporary shapes and images. Variety in the methods of application and decoration of the graphics add depth to the garments. Again combining textures and imagery is key. Graphic images are applied with bleach to give a softer twist to the hard edge of foil prints. Simple branded embroideries act as a counter balance to all over repeat prints and maintain the FLY53 brand message.
Available now in selection of hand picked retailers.
