Dr Meaker hail from Bristol, and have quickly drawn comparisons to Massive Attack and Reprazent following their BBC Best Unsigned Band of 2006 win.The band have been sucking in fans due to the strength of their Live performances and the production of leading man Clive Meaker.

Their debut album ‘A Lesson From The Speaker’ released in November 2008 has gained rave reviews, and drawn support from Zane Lowe, Micheal Evis, Ras Kwame and PeteTong but to name a few. Further support has been secured with a mass of live performances including Glastonbury and Maida Vale sessions.Their music is an eclectic mix of DnB, Dance, Soul and Jazz…..the result is a sound like no other, a true mashed up blend of genres that falls outside of the ‘boxes’ associated with Dance music and creates its own…..’Bristol Soul’.

The 29th sees the release of a stripped down acoustic version of their debut album, showcasing the bands range, and further refusal to be stuck in one genre.Look out for the Unplugged jazz version of ‘Need Love’…the lead piano melody is haunting brilliance and shows Clive Meakers depth anddiversity as a producer. The band have completely torn up the selected gigs they have played in Bristol,the UK and Europe and FLY53 strongly suggest you catch them at their next gig in aid of Cancer Charity, at the Golden Lion in Bristol on the 27th.

Were there any band names before Dr Meaker?

 No

 Wheres the best place you have played on tour?Country and/or Venue?

 It has got to be Glastonbury Festival, Glade Stage this year

 What do you like about the Fly53 brand and/or the Clothing?

 I think their connection with musicians is wicked and the urban clothes really suit our genre of music

 Who is the rudest person you have met in the industry so far?

 Dont want to name any names, but its a man!

 What are Dr Meaker up to at the moment?Can you tell us about the new album..what made you decide to release an acoustic version?

 Writing, writing and more writing in the Meaker Studio! We did them that way because we wanted to show the songs from the original album in a raw and non electronic way

 Seriously debating as a band whether to throw the rubbish TV through the hotel window
