TRAIN CHRONICLES

Martin Brignall is also known as Train Chronicles. He plays the kind of folky blues that sounds like crying into your glass of whiskey at the end of the night. He makes sweet bluesy melodies and beautiful lyrics and he’s in about fifty million different bands at the same time.

Weren’t you in a load of dodgy hardcore bands?
I've been in some bands. One was called TRISL which was post hardcore-ish. I was in it with Dev from Testicicles. I guess it was more like prog rock actually.

Are you in any other bands at the moment?
Yes, an electronica band called Church Of Trago.

What are you listening to at the moment?
Various bits, lot of Sunhouse, CSS, Grade, the amazing post hardcore band, some hip hop and just old jazz and doo-wop.

So what’s happening with Train Chronicles?
I have a few releases in the New Year, one on Real Gold records, and a split which is a private release, and another split, and hopefully an album towards the end of the year. I’m looking to expand this into a band with instruments that aren't the norm , i.e - brass and strings. I’m going to start scoring all the parts myself next year. Then I’m planning to write a musical maybe based on Sherlock Holmes, which will include my sister on piano.
Then maybe I’ll learn some trumpet and some other stuff.
